 Hi everyone,

I'm ploughing through loads of stuff on SEO trying to get my site higher up the google rankings.

I've just submitted a sitemap to google webmaster & it has come back that Submitted URL's are 1175 & URL's in web index are only 24.

I read if put in google's search box site:[sitemaps address] it gives you a list of the pages recognized by google - this was 118.

I'm trying to make sense now of this information & what if anything I can do about it.

What actions can I now take to increase my pages that are indexed?

Any help welcome.

Thanks
Michelle

If google is already crawling your site which it sounds like it is , the best way to encourage google to crawl more is to add "signposts" telling "him" where to go next , so links from blog articles deeper into your site , links between products, links from the front page Deep into the site .....

All you need to do to encourage "him" is give him a direction to go in ;o)

That's the easiest way to think about google, if he has nowhere to go next  he isnt going to go anywhere ;o)

If you have submitted a site map remember that it is going to take some time for google to work its way through that list of new stuff ;o)
