I just joined a few auction/online shoppping sites the other day and am wondering how effective they are and what I should roughly expect from being a member. I realise some of it comes down to me and my presentation of what I offer on those sites, but i was just wondering if I could get an idea from others who wish to share their experiences.

Hi Andy. I tried a few auction/shopping sites and so far haven't had any luck. Do you have a good list for shopping sites that I could try? I am finding it difficult to connect with buyers.

Thanks Andy. I will try Ebay then as I get a few views but no one buys anything. I guess I just want to find out what is worth putting the time into and what isn't. Being pretty newish it is hard for me to know still.

Auction site such as ebay are useful for driving traffic, but you need to remember that unless you are an established seller you are going to need to offer something special, the days of being guaranteed to make money on auction sites are sadly gone unless you are selling something unique, or unavailable elsewhere,  you could use it to sell lossleaders, and to gain traffic by introducing people to your website in the process , ie follow up mails and mail signatures containing your site address , but you would have to be preapared not to make money on the sales, I've used ebay this way in the past with a varying amount of success.

Again the best way to drive traffic to any site is to have established a target market, ideally this should have been done before deciding which products to sell, as with anything getting traffic to your website is actually relatively easy, its converting that traffic into sales that is the tricky bit, it's made easier if the traffic you  are getting is actually looking to buy your products ;)

Yes I agreed. Some of auction sites are not so good but you can secure your side with ssl certificate. You can able to secret your credit card info and more with the use of ssl certificates.

This is a very little list Amazon.com, Dell, EBay, OnSale, Dash.com, mezing.com, WorldSpy etc. You should love to having the list.
