You have to apply for approved seller status to add your own products, if amazon doesnt already list them. There is a monthly fee involved, but the fvf's are lower.
It can be a total pain in the proverbial to set up, but definately worth the effort. Football memorabilia sells really well on there, as does cosmetics ( particularly expensive mens  ), as well as the usual books, cds and dvds. But be warned, each selling category that requires approved seller status, must be applied for individually, unless theyve recently changed it. Like I said, its a pain to set up, but the very difficulty involved keeps the muppets out who undercut everyone. Find a niche product to go on there, and you've cracked it.
Oh, and Amazon are even more anti links to your own website than ebay are, and more on the ball over it!

I keep looking at amazon, but the fees really put me off, i can just about get to grips with the 15% home and garden fee, but they want 25% for jewellery on top of the monthly fee.

They do get a lot of traffic though, but i dont think its for the items i sell. Have got some figurines listed and sell maybe 1 or 2 a month so it probably wouldnt be worth me paying the shop fee. Although they did offer me a month free before xmas but i was too busy to set it up. If they offer it again im gonna try it, there are no contracts and you can cancel any time you want.

As you mentioned links to your site on ebay, is it just me or has anyone else noticed sellers with really obvious links like "For more products visit our website www....."

Every time i do anything even remotely against the rules ebay are on to me straight away
