I'm toying with the idea of adding a pop up page that appears when a user exits my site (or clicks the close button) which offers a discount.
Any one tried this with Prestashop?
Did it work? Did customers stay and buy?
Is there a Prestashop module to do this? (Havent found one)

I've come across a of piece of javascript code that should do the trick. The notes say I should add it into the Head section.
All very well but I cant for the life of me think which file I should be editing  whistle

Doesnt seem to work for me  huh
Modules installed and shows in admin, but no popup

Another user posted that it didnt work for them
Dont really want to have to go to a new install to try it out there

Might have to go down the javascript route after all

waste of time imo - pop up blockers will kill it anyway - what is your own security settings with regards to pop ups?

Know what you mean Bryon, I do use a pop up blocker as well.

My thinking was that I could add a one-time popup box that gives the option to stay on the page and receive a discount or continue to leave.
Seen these on loads of sites (not necessarily product sites, more informational) and they always seem to bypass the blockers

Thought it might be a way of converting some of the users that look around and then just leave

Not sure of the coding but do know that some exit popups seem to bypass blockers while others are OK

I know what you mean though I recently bought a template for a site after going to leave the site it gave me a 20% discount coupon however the downside of this was the next time i went to buy i done the exact same thing and got the coupon again - tight arses like me will learn to ride the sytem :)

Thought about that, was going to make the discount voucher a 1 per user, so even if they saw it a few times they could only use it once.
Was also thinking about maybe having it cookie controlled, so they would only ever see it once
But that might be a lot more complicated

those people that clear their cookies everytime they close their browsers would still see it would they not ? would a sign up option with a return discount in a newsletter not work better  ? maybe with a referral discount that people can pass to their friends ?
