Hi guys

Hope someone can help me.  I check my Cpanel daily to keep an eye on my bandwidth useage as just recently I have been very close to the edge or gone over my allowance.  Again this month we are only halfway through and I am two thirds into my bandwidth.

Just taken a look at my AWStats and I have found this which seems to be an incredibly large usage.

Unknown robot (identified by 'bot*')   11157+112   299.91 MB   13 May 2010 - 10:43

What can I do about it cos I dont want my hosting provider to start getting really p****d with me  lol

Thanks

If you can find out the IP of the bot then you can ban the IP address or better still ban the IP range. You host should be able to point you in the right direction for that.

You need to download your raw access logs and look through them for the bot in question.

Twengabot is one of the worst for bandwidth eating.

Almost certainly Twenga although I cannot confirm at the moment - the IP for your records is 94.75.247.224 but they have a full /16 block plus more

I have added the 94.75.247.224 IP to your block list - let me know if that makes any difference.

Just as a tip - webalyzer stats gives the IP where AWStats dont - saves wading through raw logs in most cases.

You're a star ... thank you.  I will keep an eye on it over the next few days and see if my bandwidth use slows down!!
