Has anybody managed to get a banner into their header?
What I mean is, below the header image but above the sidebar/posts etc

The plugin I use is fine for inserting ads into posts and the sidebar but I really want one below the header image, almost as though its part of the header

Any ideas?

you know i read that post 3 times thinking to myself obviously im missing summink i havent a clue what hes on about lol

You could write it into the header.php manually i have done it with some of mine. Tho not with ads but other stuff ;)

My home page has stuff written straight into the  header.php, like the facebook and rss feed links etc , not a tricky job :)

Is it an advertising banner? Does it need to rotate?

There's things like maxblogpress bannerads but that has a signature link back to them for the free version. But it does have a placement position there which can be rotated.

I know there are many others though that do this. It depends what it is and your theme. I have a thesis theme but that's a paid for theme but I can put a feature box above my header or below or on top of the posts etc. So maybe either a theme or get one of the ad plugins that allow placement where you want it. Most though will only have a 468x60 on the right side of header. I'm working on a couple of mine tomorrow so if I see something suitable I'll post back. I'm sure I've had ad type one before but just can't remember it.

Rain - looked at trying to write it into the header.php ut couldnt see how to do it and nearly trashed the site trying to do it  eyes

Grifter - yes its an advertising banner. I'll have a look at the maxblogpress one. All the other plug in ones Ive found allow you to put them in the posts - top/middle/bottom/after para1 etc or in the sidebar but not at the very top of the page above the header which is where I really want it.
Be very grateful if you come across one on your travels.

In case anyone else is interested, the maxblogpress max banner ads did the trick.
See http://www.maxblogpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=537 for how to get the banner into the header
