My daughter decided she wanted to wash my car for me today,
So I opened the garage door to get the hose and bucket out for her,
Door was a bit sticky, so I looked a bit closer and it was a little bent on one side,
Great I thought, more work for the weekend.

And then I looked again....
Some wan*** has had my golf clubs away

Took them out of the trolley bag (as that would have probably been to heavy to carry) put them in the stand bag (much lighter with a carry strap) and off they had toddled.
Didnt take anything else, left the electric trolley, 2 pushbikes, drills, tools and a fridge full of beer.

Cant believe the cheek of these gits, I worked bloody hard to pay for them (around £1200 in total when new) and some scrote has probably just got rid of them for £20

Waiting for the police to come round and have a look so I can try and claim on the insurance... dont think I'll get anywhere unless I can get them to put in their notes that there is sign of forced entry - not sure that the slightly bent door will be enough, but it was obviously enough for the gits to get in and open it.

The bloody things are never normally in the garage, only took them out of the car when I picked the wife and kids up from the airport last weekend, tos**** were obviously watching...     grrrr grrrr grrrr grrrr grrrr grrrr grrrr

Makes me sick how people steal from others especially when it something like the kids bikes etc which they know will break a childs heart.

My other half has a recovery truck which somebody has attempted to steal 3 times in the last 2 weeks but caught them every time and scared them off its now got the steering wheel chained up and the passenger door welded shut. Its so annoying and the thought of somebody stealing your things while your family are asleep at night makes me so angry !!!

Thanks for the comments guys.
The police came round about 10.30 last night to have a look but as I guessed, there wasnt much they could do.
But the good news is the crime report is going to say that there was evidence of forced entry so I should be able to claim on the insurance :)
Had quite a long chat with them, they were actually very nice!

Off to have an discussion/argument with the insurance company now... when I should be out on the course

Struck me last night that I was getting old... the 2 policemen that turned up looked about 16  huh

Sorry to hear that Fivewood, it's really horrible when it happens and leaves you wondering "what on earth" for weeks after.

Recovery trucks have and always have been a target, not so sure about nowadays but when trackers originally came out and were fitted to all of the expensive cars, they didn't work when the vehicle was off the ground, it was too easy for the thieves to pick one up, load it into a container (wouldn't get picked up in there either) and by the time the signal started transmitting it was out the country and the thieves have been paid.

I remember in the good old days in my youth taking parts off my cars and spending 10 minutes every morning refitting them so no one could nick it overnight.

Unfortunately its a sign of the times and the only positive spin to put on it is that at least you were insured and it wasn't a personal item that can't be replaced.

I'm only just the upper side of 30 but 10 years ago i had respect for my parents and respect for the police, nowadays it seems like the more asbo's you can get amongst your name the better person you are infront of your mates.

Petty theft has and always will be petty theft, however the main change is that now there is no threat of "i'll phone the police" as they know they have got at least 5 minutes to get away then.

Baa- Hehe is this where im going to be told in a sociological manner that i am falling into the 'fear of crime' trap and in reality i'd have to be pretty unlucky really to become a victim of crime??

Maybe Fivewood was just unlucky...however, he is a now a victim of petty theft as you call it.

Or are you saying that petty crime isnt on the rise...and it has always existed, so my 'sign of the times' comment was wrong?

I was actually thinking of the lack of respect shown by people in the 10-30 age bracket nowadays, who frankly have no respect for anyone or personal property as a whole. Now, you can tell me that is a rather large generalisation, obviously i dont mean everyone...but it is noticible.

Im 38 and dont feel particuarly old, i wouldnt of dared doing what i see youngsters doing today, there is a 'what are you going to do about it then Mister' attitude and together with the total lack of effort from the local police...all adding up to things getting worse...sign of the times...or, is it just because i happen to live on a nightmare estate in Cardiff??

And so, Fivewood got his golf clubs nicked...its the feeling of being robbed of something that was yours...ive felt it, happens quite regular round here :)

You read a lot into one simple question.

How is petty theft a sign of the times?

There are lots of things that are signs of the times, I wondered why 2 people felt this was particular and peculiar to the times we live in now ... nothing more. No motive to attack, judge or pooh pooh anyone at all, just pure curiosity, I often ask very simple questions with just that intention ... interest in others views.

I feel awful for Fivewood, having your home breeched in a serious personal invasion. It's a horrible experience for seemingly pointless reasons. I have in no way diminished the effect that crime of any kind has on people who are subjected to it. I was simply curious.

In a past life I used to be a despatcher in a recovery firm, and I used to also run a haulage firm, so I am used to drivers. Thief has always been around what is different nowadays is that what we in the past found commonplace like break in's at home have died down because of enchanced security measures, so the thieves now target other more softer targets. Also nowadays if discovered thieves often use really nasty weapons so violence is more commonplace. There are parts of London only a year ago that my friends won't enter into at night because of the risk of crime, a friend of mine was driving down a well known street in southwark pulled up at a traffic lights and had £2000 worth of tools nicked in a split second, another had a sat nav, phone and laptop nicked as he fueled up. One friend was even shot at Mitcham because he happened to be resting as witnesed them trying to kill someone. I myself have seen things that 25 years ago would make the front pages of the Sun but nowadays would be lucky to make the local paper, we are told that crime is going down but the truth is it isn't as the goverment don't record the crime figures properly. I hope that the people who have nicked from fivewood get caught and I feel sorry for him, although if they are caught they will probally only get told off, they don't deal with crime anymore.
