can someone give me some helpful hints about how to do my homepage
at the moment I have a brief bit about our business and a bit about valentines day and I was thinking that I could change this to Mothers day etc but after doing the seo workshop with Rainee this week she said thats not the best thing to do
most of you have a lot more knowledge than me so I was wondering if you could tell me why its not the best thing to do , I'm not for one moment doubting what Rainee has said but I like to learn and find things out so was just interested in the reasoning
my site is
www.sunrisecards.co.uk

the crazy thing at the moment is that I wanted a new website to generate more business but am so busy with business at the moment I'm not finding the time to sort my website out lol

any helpful hints on how to make a fantastic homepage that will attract the customers would be great preferably in English rather than techy talk as I just don't understand it :(

your home page should be generic , general text about you and your services , if you want to focus on seasonal stuff so it via a post and categorise it , that way it will always be there , the danger with changing your homepage test constantly is that although google loves changes , it also needs to be able to categorise your site by content ... imagine a book where the "excerpt" on the back changes everytime you look at it , one day it would be a thriller , the next a romantic novel ... google wouldnt know where to put it for the best would it ? ;o)

Not every visitor will land on your homepage, if google thinks there are other pages on your site that are more relevant to the search term entered, it'll show the link to that page instead of your home page, so best (as Raines said) use the post function to draw in different people using slightly different search results.

Tailor different parts of your site to hit different keywords ;)
