Hi all, i'm doing some work on rebranding and remodelling my business a little, just wanted to know what makes you guys stay on a web page and browse instead of going elsewhere?
the same for a facebook page and how often should I post from my page, what do you class as too much/too little?
Thanks so much in advance.

The only thing which attracts me is relevant content, if I see on the site what I was looking for, I won't go. As for distractors: pop-up ads, not readable text because of unsuitable text color, bad navigation (when you don't know where to click to see what you are interested in). Maybe more, just first things which came to my mind.

catering for the masses is bound to drive you mad

you need to include

decent navigation , decent sized product images that do not necessarily need enlarging to see them  (tiny images are a real put off to me i dont want to dig around to get a decent picture , decent detailed  descriptions , you need to write descriptions that would create an image in your head (pretend you dont have an image when you write it )

facebook , its very much personal choice , its best to interact with your members/fans to increase your coverage , facebook relies on people sharing content within its algorithms (edgerank) so you need to provide content for people to share , if you view your insights it will tell you the market you are hitting and your busiest times of day  ...
