Morning All,

Can anybody help?

My husbands boss has his own business and about 8years ago he paid a company to produce him a website... he paid them about 10k for it. Well the website is very out of date now and he wants a new site with shop included.... he has asked myself & hubby to look into it for him.

He owns the domain name - www.dajo.co.uk so he wants to transfer it to the new site.

He would prefer to make a one off payment for the site like he did before but do not know if that is possible??? All the hosting sites i've looked up charge monthly/yearly...

So.... i don't know what to do really, whether we struggle through and try and put something together ourselves??? (EEK) could anyone recommend building sites/templates to do this and what hosts??
Or can we get costs from someone on here that could possibly set up the site for us including transferring the domain etc...

Sorry if it is a bit vague, but his boss does not really want anything to do with it apart from making the payment and knowing the site is up & running etc... he has left it in our hands so to speak...

Any advice would be gratefully received

Thanks

Lucy

Lucy

Firstly the domain is registered to David Chandler not the company - does that name mean anything ? as you will need access to the domain name to move it, we are UK registrars so can advise on issues relating to this.

Hosting is always charged per period normally monthly or annually most of our business accounts pay annually

Price wise I would need to discuss fully what your needs are especially in relation to the shop side of things, you can contact me all my contact details are on http://www.scotserve.co.uk/about/contact

No I would never suggest you muddle through trying to do his yourself especially for your boss - who then gets the blame if it goes wrong? We hve 18 years experience in the industry and have been providing e-commerce sites since 1998

Yes, David Chandler is my husbands boss - owner of Dajo Solutions.

I have been speaking with Rainee about designing the website and she has suggested hosting through yourself.

He owns around 10 domain names which all point to www.dajo.co.uk i'm not sure how it all works but after speaking with the company (Orionesque Ltd) that originally set up the dajo website they have said we need to register with 123-reg to release the domain names to us...??

If the domain names get released does this affect the original website at all? Or will the original website still be available until it is transferred through to the new host?

Sorry, i really do not know much about this stuff at all, so if i can pass it onto you proffessionals it would alot better for myself & Dajo.

Many Thanks for your help

Lucy

No you dont need a 123 reg account - they can transfer the domains through 123 reg to our Nominet account which is ALBATRADING
That does not affect the site until such times as the current hosting company pulls the hosting

I should mention that me and Donna use scotserve to sort out all our domains, so you still will have Bryons expertise regarding the domains
(cant beat a nominet registrar to handle things like domains ;) )
