i generally use my installed plug ins and analytics to monitor general visits to all the Rainbows sites but decided this evening to have a much closer look at what where when and how ....

there were some really interesting searches that came up especially as i got to the bottom of the list you know all the one hit searches, i think i have some one investigating me .... how many ways around can you search for rainbow studios web design in boston in the uk ???

anyone care to have a guess at how many combinations ...

So the question is how much attention do you pay to your search terms and whats the wierdest one you have had ?

I spend more time looking at stats than almost anything else. On my football site (that's the one without the crowd  whistle ) one of the entries, in various forms, was "large Scottish dogs". Arrived at us for the football pet shirts!

oh a new 'niche' for you then ? lol

mine were interesting in as much as how many single searches all grouped together looking for various forms of my site names, taglines, locations ...... as well as the obvious 'scam' reference :)

nice to know someone is doing their research lol

I did pay attention to this for a while when I started an advertising campaign in a mag.
As my site is still relatively new, there are not that many people searching directly for my site. It was somewhat strange to see the search term of my site name suddenly start appearing, and for it to continue for two months after the ad ended.

It goes to show that while magazine advertising may not always pay off, it is a residual thing that can be a benefit for a prolonged period. But it's really not easy to track.

My strangest one was 'shelf sitter frog'.

On a site that sells sunglasses  huh

Maybe someone at Google having a laugh with sellers by just adding random unconnected search terms.

I wonder if I type in sunglasses to Google will I get 'shelf sitter frog' results  lol

No really strange key phrases but sometimes clever ones for finding suppliers. Best one this month was:

"This is a trade only website" (insert product here) UK
