answered on facebook  as follows

Table Rate

Enable Table Method
True

Shipping Table
0.1:2.49,0.25:2.75, 0.5:3.25, 0.75:3.85, 1.0:4.49, 1.25:5.65, 1.5:6.40, 1.75:7.25, 2:7.95, 4:9.75,

Table Method
weight

Handling Fee
0

Handling Per Order or Per Box
Order

Tax Class
--none--

Tax Basis
Shipping

Shipping Zone
--none--

Sort Order
0

Those weights and prices are what i charge , although i charge pretty much at cost ... activate the table rate , then configure it to what i have posted ... adjusts the prices and weights accordingly ,(weight in kg : cost in £ )

remember to remove the handling charges in configuration > shipping/packing
