Probably something your end Julie. I can see it on my desktop PC but not on my laptop. Think it might be something to do with flash.

as gordy75 says, its probably your flash,
try updating your flash, see if that helps,

also, what is your computer running? as windows 7 seems to have issues with flash, theres been a few problems with the chatroom using windows 7, and the shoutbox is a scaled down version of a chatroom, so could cause issues there too

I tested the whole site in firefox, IE8 and opera and found no problems anywhere when i was building the site,
most problems are caused by not updating windows properly or an old version of flash, or not having javascript enabled

carisma has always had problems with the shoutbox using IE8 but I have never been able to emulate the problem, even when running IE8 with addons disabled, it still works fine,
I'v also added code that forces your IE8 browser into compat mode, to try and solve any problems,
the problems must be with the set up of the PC being used to view the site as I cant find anything wrong anywhere, and its always the odd one or two that have problems

Yeah I think that is true. I don't normally use IE but I realise that flash or java needs sorting as I can't see embedded videos on other sites

if this shoutbox is the one i recommended then it is not Flash it is Using Ajax for the updates, so flash versions wont matter.

Julie - can I assume you actually have the shoutbox open i.e. you have clicked the little arrow on the far right hand side of the shoutbox? what security levels have you got set on your computer?

could you check your internet settings, the java and media settings should be the same as the pic below

<edit to add>
in your Java control panel, via the main control panel on your pc, under network settings in the java control panel, the option "use browser settings" needs to be checked inorder for your internet settings for Java to work

I'll go through the internet setting on IE8 and see if I can find out what would be causing the problem, and I'll look at the code for the shoutbox and see if there is any problem there,

I don't get any error message. I can type into the bar but then nothing happens and I see no messages in there.
