  Another question sorry

I have been on the business link site to look for these commodity codes I need to make sure I am paying the right duty.

From my research I have seen it varies from 2.00% up to 7.00%

Its beads and findings I want to import.

I have telephoned the bloke chap person on the number I was given and I tried to explain it clearly jewellery making parts/components metal charms, glass beads, ear wires and bits etc... but he didn't seem to be in the mood whether it was the friday feeling dunnno.

Does anyone have this experience of ordering this stuff in if so do I have the figures right?

and say for example I have ordered a mixture of beads and findings will they add the 2.50% and 7.00% together to make 9.50% or will they go for the highest code??  I know the VAT is 20% its the duty that is confusing me I need to make sure I am budgeting at first I don't want to blow £600 and find I should of kept £50 aside cos I miscalculated the duty.

TIA

Not sure aout the duty rate  but remember the duty is added on to the value before the VAT is calculated and there will be a collection charge

It's difficult to budget correctly for duty even if you have the right percentages because should customs decide to revalue the parcel the duty costs will change anyway. It can go down as well as up and you never know when your parcel will be inspected.

If you are ordering in findings, you may have to budget for them to be inspected for nickle content by the assay office as well.
