Have you got a domain name thought out??

I would be interested I had the smell of Brut 33 again today Always here when I am upset and stressed I like to think its grandad ( others will say its the stress doing it  :p  )

Smells that aren't there that you associate with someone you know or knew are a genuine psychological manifestation. I smell split doughnuts sometimes because my little nan used to buy me one as a treat on a rare occasion. I could smell doughnuts on and off long before she died and she lived many miles away (nor was I anywhere near doughnuts nor any bakery  :p ), a psychoanalyst I knew told me it was a scent association bought on by a memory trigger and pretty much everyone gets it once in a while.

thats all good but saying that when you are on an investigation and you get a manifestation of a phantom smell that for or five people have smelt which is al so backed up by hard evidence than how can it be  psychological i once told one of these people that im interested in the paranormal and she said that same the only proplem they know nothing about parasitolgy which it the science behind the paranormal an its not all as clean cut as that

Sorry Gavgav but I have done this even over the internet and it is amazing how easily this works, it works even better when you are in a group of people in the real world. Derren Brown is a master of suggestion but TBH everyone in the world is capable of it and we are all influenced by it.

If I say I can smell a familiar scent to the majority of people reading, you can almost guarantee most people will smell it almost as soon as reading it or will say "that's odd I smelled that this morning" or similar. Its the same as saying I can see Elvis in my toast, post an image of sufficiently marbled toast and pretty much everyone will see what I've suggested is there. This works to the point where you can say I can smell X and someone will agree who will later admit to not knowing what X smells like but a smell was instantly there when the words were heard. This does not work so when when explaining this which is why I haven't mentioned a particular smell.

It's all part of our makeup. By nature we are librarians of a general sort, we store an immense amount of information for future reference and a survival trait is to recognise landmarks in all areas of our senses. Suggest a smell and others familiar with it are instantly reminded of it by nature.

I'm by no means discounting human experience of the paranormal but as someone interested in the paranormal I'm sure you will have come across the evidence that in actual fact a lot of what we perceive as paranormal does have a more prosaic explanation.

When we associate a smell with something we are familiar with it is frequently because we have been reminded in some way of that person or object etc. If it brings comfort to remember a nice grandad/happier time when things are difficult, I think that is a wonderful thing we are able to do for ourselves. People live on through memories of the living and smell is a very powerful memory.

yeah i do totally agree with you on that but then a again smell are not scentific any way so that has to be thrown out and every thing sure be debuned   at least tryed to for instance you have a client that says i have a door that is opening and there can a million and one reasons y hat door in opening

you always got fact and fiction in every thing any way and some time people take pictures and see a black shadow does that mean  in paranormal no  and most thing can be explained  well thb most claims can be debunked
