You can also use prestashop
It just depends on the features you need within the shop - personally I find zencart file system hellish and extremely difficult to keep the core up to date once you start adding mods

Its so I can have proper drop down ladder menus the plug in I have with wp isn't doing it for me and I wanted things in certain order. I know I can do this on zen cart and I am familiar with it.

right , zencart does have the ability for drop down menus and in vickies position i would recommend zencart over wordpress to do what she is planning to do with vickies beads , wordpress has its uses and its advantages BUT .............

you cannot beat zencart for being able to deal with the required level of customer grouping and add ons to help achieve what vicky is trying to do with the site , I wouldnt recommend wordpress for a retail store along the lines vickie is planning , the zencart file structure is actually relatively easy once you know your way around, the biggest issue that people have when adding modifications is not knowing how to use the file overrides in the correct manner , you dont actually need to alter any core files.

Presta shop is another matter , unless you are into fixing bugs then i wouldnt touch it for a diy site ......

to be honest the file structure isnt really that bad and its half the size of most other cart systems,
prestashop still has bugs, open cart has pretty much no support and if you dont understand the MVC structure then its going to be even worse that zen cart to find your way about the file structure seeing as everything is split over three sections and it doesnt seem to have an obvious override system, which zen cart has, and quite alot of other carts are using the MVC pattern. So unless people understand the MVC pattern and can read code properly, they arnt going to be able to modify it themselves, they will need some one like me to explain it to them, zen cart is easier for those that are new to all this and there are less things to go wrong.

There is a reason we still use it, because its actually quite good, with a small footprint so it takes up half the space of most other carts and it loads faster for the same reasons, and there is way more support out there for zen cart than any other cart system.

Wordpress, although it is a cracking piece of software, isnt easy to use, especially if you are not used to it, the amount of functions it has quite often overwhelms the user, not to mention the fact that the ecommerce plugins never give you the full functionality that a proper cart system would.
