cry I am getting right confused on this stupid tax website. I am trying to find out what I actually need to use a supplier not in this country for re sale  vickiesbeads but I want to do it all above board and legal and to be cost effective the ordering has got to be in the 00's of £ but I am getting confused with what % is the duty I know 20% VAT I have to pay but I have to set a budget for the first order so don't want to go over I need to leave what is left for the custom charges. Does anyone else have brain ache looking up for things or is it just me.?

I don't want to phone them up and say what is what etc.. cos it will sound like I am not trying to sort it out myself but omg brainache

There are a fair few variables when importing from abroad and it's pretty difficult to get a correct figure as if customs inspects the parcel they may well revalue the items. The revaluation can go down as well as up which isn't always as nice as it sounds if you've paid XX only to find others think it's worth less.

The currency exchange rates can be difficult to gauge because it depends on the payment processors as well as the rate on the day as to how much they will charge.

Then there is the carrier charge for filling out the customs forms.

What is it that you are attempting to import?
