Oh Zen Master (Seamus or anyone else who falls into this category LOL) I have a site which has about 130 different products.  When I get more stock in of these 130 products is there a quick way I can update the stock levels without going into every product, changing the number, preview and update.

Oh thanks wise ones!

easy polulate is quite easy to install and it means you can just give a csv file a quick tweak, upload it and it will update / add any products you've sorted on the csv

http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?main_page=product_contrib_info&products_id=1240

that the link to the mod,

one you've installed it, download a csv file of your stores product list then use that file to add stock levels, add or edit products then upload it again great

OK, you lost me after ...easy to install ... LOL.

I have clicked the link and downloaded it.  When I have downloaded mods before I have needed to Extract the files, but this one I dont seem to is that correct.

Do I just put the whole lot into my includes folder or am I running off at the mouth again.  Do I install the SQL patch.

CSV file?

You forget I have no real knowledge of this!

you do need to unzip it, but its a rar file, which is different to a zip file, you might need this to open it
http://www.peazip.org/

that will open different types of compressed files (zip files and rar files)

Im sure that one comes with an sql file, but you dont actually use it, just upload the includes file then go into admin > tools > easy populate and download the complete product list (you'll see the link for that)

then open the csv file in ms office or open office or similar and it'll display your product list as a spreadsheet, easy to sort

This is taking me so long I could have updated my stock LOL.

I got the download and install fine and when I go to download my CSV file it wants to go to Excel. As it opens as a read only file, I have to save it as something else to edit it, but it wants to change the excel version or some such thng and it says some formatting will be lost.  Not sure about this.

I looked and I dont seem to have MS Office or Open Office - or do you mean a MS program which is part of the Office suite, word, excel, etc. etc

I had the quick updates mod (forgot about it until just read Andy's post) but it would only half work, (I got the boxes but they wouldn't update LOL) I think it was a case of mods not wanting to play nicely.

Looks an excellent mod if it works on your site though.

Thanks all for your help.

I did try with the Easy Populate but I couldnt get it to work.  I think it seems to be an incompatibility issue with my versions of software or incompatibility with my brain.

I did try the Quick Updates and it worked fine.
