A huge hi to everyone from Myrddin Mirage.

I am completely new to forums and stuff so apologies if I have put this in the wrong place or anything  :)

We are looking to expanding our service to outside of Wales offering affordable photography and design services to small businesses etc. The one main thing that is holding us back is transport. So I would love to ask you all, if you found someone who offered affordable pricing outside of your area would you be willing to post them your products and the photographer send them back to you?

Any feedback or advice on this would be greatly received  :)

I would imagine people would be more than willing to post out if they know they are going to get a good service , a portfolio of images to use as examples would help you in that respect , people like to see proof of your work , especially if thyey are going to be expected to pay for it ;o)

A portfolio is a must - folk will need to see the kinds of images you can produce & your creativity in showing off products, whether they be jewellery, clothing, plastic tubs or curtains  great

Something which might be worth considering is a collaboration?

You produce the image(s) & retain copyright on it, giving the model/manufacturer/hairdresser etc permission to use the images for promotion of their own services, giving full credit to all involved parties, but no rights to sell the image(s).

Depending on how you arrange this, speaking from a product manufacturer's viewpoint, I would either send you some accessories to keep or to give to your model in "payment" for his/her time or you might very kindly offer to send them back to me. I would expect to pay for the postage both ways, as I would be receiving professional images in return for use of my accessories. I know that I'll also be getting some cross-promotion through everyone involved e.g. the model will post photos to her online bases, as will you and the make-up artist.

It's a great way to start out and will help you build your portfolio. You will also be helping other small enterprises build their own brands/image.

Of course, it involves you spending some time & money, so don't go overboard & do too many collaborations or you'll soon be an ex photographer! lol But it's definitely worth considering IMO.
