G'day people of ECF land.

Thanks for providing this venue & for the education so far over on FB... I shall be mostly trying to wade through the website/SEO threads once I've rid myself of this week's huge migraine!  grrrr

I make & sell jewellery & accessories, which I mostly sell at custom bike shows, hot rod events & the like & in the background I'm also trying to improve my artistic bent & cross over into the lo-brow art/Kustom Kulture side of life... The main drive for this is to diversify and avoid getting lost in the eleventy gazillion other jewellery makers out there. Easier said than done!

I have a long-suffering partner who is my rock & somehow puts up with my "artistic temperament" and persuades me to stick with my efforts, as well as being one of the harshest critics I know - if a piece gets the thumbs up from him, it goes into production... If not, it is forever consigned to the recycling bin! 2011 has been a super-stressful year so far, so I'm working on winning back control instead of letting myself be influenced by external factors! Big words... Now they're in black & white on here, there's no escaping them  devil

Everything computer-related just does my head in! I find it SO hard to get to grips with the simplest of tasks, but I shall keep endeavouring... Whilst I'm likely to frustrate those IT & marketing experts among you, I'll also try to help others in areas I'm a little less befuddled in.

Catch you all soon - Louise (who might even fill in profile/sig tag details at some point *ahem*)

Cheers Fiona - it's amazing what you can find to make stuff from when you're suffering extreme negative cash flow!  lol

It seems to be going over quite well, but it's only been to 1 show so far... I shall be able to tell more after the next fortnight when I have 3 shows on the trot - fingers x'd!

I've gone very local this year & cut right back Scot (Bryon? I think I'm right!) & only doing a handful - Chop n Rod (London HA), Ogri (my only non-local show, but they've been good to me the last 2 years, so I'm flogging stuff on ebay to try & raise the petrol money to get there!), Chrome & Cruisers (Kent) & Flames n Frame (Kent & Sussex NCC). I've quit doing most of the small rallies, as they really don't pay off, although I would've supported 2 of my locals had they not been canceled - d'oh! I really need to take at least £700 over a weekend to make it work & sadly the smaller club rallies just don't attract the necessary numbers.

I hope to target larger events within the next couple of years, such as Ally Pally's custom show & maybe even the Bulldog, although that's going to take some doing - I'll need to invest in lots of silver before attempting that one! Never mind £700, I'll be needing over £2,000 to make that pay! It'd be great to do things like Brightona, as that's nice & local (I live in North Kent, but spend weekends at my partner's in Hastings - hoping to get somewhere together down that way soonish) but they charge £350 for the pitch & it's only a 1 day event, so you need to do some serious selling. At the moment, too much of my stock is low end, i.e. less than £10, so I'd have to work my little socks off just to cover the pitch fee! lol

Yep the pitch price is a problem
Done the Bulldog once - didnt like the atmosphere, was a regular at Rock & Blues and Kent custom for a few years until it just got way too expensive, another I tried to do was Stormin the castle but agin it got poorly supported by the trade due to pitch pricing

This is the last two customs I built - dont do it anymore

Beer carrier extraordinaire!  lol

I thought about the Farmyard Party - it's a bit of a trek, but I've heard it's worth doing.

Wish the Kent Custom was still going - what a blast from the past! Best show EVER & my introduction to bike shows many many MANY moons ago.*sighs* Those were the days...

Thanks for the welcome Vickie! :D

Farmyard is brilliant - fantastic atmosphere, really is just like a humongous party and still pretty well supported by trade and bikers

Bryon those bikes/trikes were awesome!!! I did do my CBT 6 and a bit years ago but a few weeks before my wedding, I manged to pop a wheelie on my Honda CG 125 and completely trashed it. Not been back on one since as I had to get rid of her as I didn't have the money to put her right at the time (wedddings cost money even on a low budget) and then before I knew it my CBT had run out  frown  I will get back on one eventually - might just wait for weedyface to be a few years older first  :)
