Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Someone asked if you could run a raffle on your facebook business page so I went off on a search and this is what was found.

Society raffle
This kind of raffle needs to be registered with your local authority to obtain a license. It is
important they comply with the Gaming Board.
o Tickets to be sold over a period of time.
o Tickets can be sold to the general public.
o The maximum price you can charge for each ticket is £2.
o You must register with your local authority licensing department. You will have to
purchase a license which costs around £30-£40 for a year.
o You must have a named promoter who is responsible for the lottery.
o You can register as “Mr. Smith raising money for MS Society“, but you must not register
as “MS Society” as we hold a license in this name.
o You must follow the authorities rules on how to administer the raffle and what must be
printed on the tickets.
o Unfortunately, you cannot run a society raffle under the MS Society’s license.
o Tickets must not be sold to people under the age of 16.
If you are concerned about the licensing requirements contact your local licensing authority or
www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk. You can also give the Fundraising Team a call, we will be happy
to help.

and on the gambling commission page this was said

Black & White: "Lotteries cannot be run for private or commercial gain."

The applicable legislation is "Prize Competitions & Free Draws" & there's a 9 page document to rifle through on their FAQ pages... so effectively, you're NOT allowed to do a raffle/lottery for personal gain & you have to comply with the Prize Comps & Free Draws bit, which is where the "game of skill" bit comes up.

So from what I have found you can not run a raffle on your facebook business pages for you to raffle off your own items.

If you know of anything else to add or if I have found wrong info let me know  thumbs up
