My host has added Prestashop and Tomato Cart to the C-Panel as a 'one click' install feature.

I've never played around with Tomato Cart (it's American, so don't forget to say 'tom may ro' )

It's a branch-off from osCommerce 3, but it's really quite a modern interpretation.

It's got a built in CMS and an import/export module.

I recommend that you give it a test,  it's free and Open Source.

I've got a feeling that this cart could be going places.

I have had this available for about a year now, nice cart but is really still work in progress, lack of templates is still a problem - yes you can get oscommerce ones converted but many who look at free carts look for free or cheap templates.

I agree with you i think it is one to watch

I seem to remember Tomato Cart being in the top 3 of the open source awards, eCommerce category.  Haven't really had a chance to look at it yet.

It appears that I was incorrect about it being American, it's registered in Shanghai with servers in Germany.

One thing that is niggling me, when I am in the admin side, I can't find a link to go direct to the store-front (public view)
It's probably something I deleted when I was 'testing' the CP   whistle

The template that it comes with is very slick and is years away from the ZenCart default one.

I've got this done so far... without the aid of an ftp program, I've removed the demo products, added one product and added my own slides.

I find the slideshow is getting on my nerves, If I keep this cart I will need to change the transition of each slide.

I agree I dont like the slide transition and the way it slides all the way back to start, fade would be better with a 10000ms refresh rate IMO

I've altered it without using ftp  8)

Slideshow speed and Direction
Start--> Templates --> Template Module --> Content --> when open look for Slideshow, to the right there is an edit icon (NOT THE X) click to edit.

This is what I changed,

Slideshow mode..vertical

Interval (ms)
slide show interval ... 5000

and

Duration (ms)
slide show duration ... 2000

I might be able to customise even more if I use ftp, but am impressed that you don't need to, to make a major change like this one.

I found TC quite hard to work with on the Mac.

its using mootools and not jquery, thats a shame, plenty of decent jquery sliders around, and its simple to play about with jquery,
nowt wrong with mootools, its just another jscript framework, I prefer jquery though

do a search for mootools sliders, or mootools tutorials, it'll give you a good idea on how to tweak the slider js files and the like
and if you want to add any other jscript bits to the template, you'd be best sticking with mootools for your jscript stuff seeing as the framework is already loaded
(jscript framework mootools version 1.2 is the one used on the black raven template)

great

<edit to add>

I have noticed somthing, you have two generator meta tags in your header, should only be one, and there's no keywords showing on the main page (thats probably because none have been set yet though)

this is the extra meta tag that you dont need

Code:
<meta name="Generator" content="TomatoCart" />

I've taken it down, just haven't got the time to play with it.

The TomatoCart team are actually based in China but the support community seems pretty good. We have had a free payment module for TomatoCart for some time now but haven't really had any UK interest in it. We had one customer who signed up using it but then disappeared pretty quickly and Streamline cancelled his account - not that I am saying this is the carts fault, just that we now don't have anyone using this particular cart.
