Hi everyone,

I've just joined the forum today, something I should have done a while ago really!!!

I'm a member of RSSBN on Facebook which is how I found this site  :D

My real name is Claire, although most people on forums adress me as Ladyluck - I have no preference and will answer to pretty much anything  ;)  ;)

Look forward to getting to know you all.

Claire

Thanks for the welcome everyone!!!

What Fiona is alluding to is the fact that despite being a fairly girly blonde jewellery and beady person, I'm also a bit of a crazy petrolhead too!! I'm going to see if I can work out how to add a photo of my weekend toy - prepare to be surprised  wink

Hi Seamus,

Yep, a V8 indeed  :) I have to confess, unless the vehicle also has 2 wheels, I'm not really interested in engines with less than 8 cyls.

It's pushing out around 500bhp, I need to get it dyno'd again, the last dyno test (previous owner) showed a little over 450, but I'm running higher compression and the vacu-pan pipes & new headers can make a 10-15% increase too.

My own best time is a 10.61 @127mph, the car has run a 10.23 with the previous owner. I'm determined to get a 9 out of it this year, but currently doing battle with the hugely outdated torsion beam suspension so I can actually get out on the track at some point soon(failed scrutineering last time out)  grrrr There have also been probs with power delivery, there's loads more to give from the engine but getting it down onto the track is a heck of a job.

It's a labour of love that's for sure. But highly addictive too  thumbs up

I spotted the vacu-pan pipe coming off the exhaust great

that should be fit for a sub 10 sec run ;)

Im guessing its a 5.2 litre block or there abouts?

so whats the plans for the suspension? not much room at the back, so I'd imagine a double wishbone setup might be a tight fit, although it would help put the power down and keep your rear wheels bang on straight, without a hint of camber to get the best out of the tyres.

Im more into track cars than dragsters so my knowledge of dragster setups isnt the best lol, but I love anything mechanical

It's a 350 small block, so around 5.7 or thereabouts. In theory, yes, good for a mid-low 9 run.

It's the front suspension that's causing probs, none on the rear (just great big squishy tyres) as it's running a narrowed straight axle set up. I'm trying to keep as much as I can old school/nostalgia style to fit in with the class I'll be racing in.
I need a new set of tyres soon anyway, these are pretty old and starting to go off a bit.

The front is a torsion beam set up, it does work and is used quite commonly in nostalgia drag racing, but this one seems to have gone awry somewhere as the torsion beam bracket plates are sitting lower that the bottom of the front wheel rims, hence the scrutineering fail. I've got some new sprung bar on order so we'll (read Hubby for 'we' - I'll sit & watch this bit ;) ) make a new beam pack up & see if it sits higher, as the old bars seem to have lost some strength.

I don't mind circuit racing, although don't follow any series closely. I did try out for the ill fated farce that was 'Formula Woman' several years ago, but was turfed out after the first trials for being 'too aggressive'. I assume my lapping everyone else twice on the karting trial wasn't appreciated  whistle

BTW what bike is that in your av? I can't quite make it out from the pic???
