Using Blogs for backlinks
«
on:

How many people use blogs to create backlinks to their sites?
Do you create deep links to your site or just link to the homepage?
Do you join in on the conversation or just add little comments?
Do you use nofollow blogs and follow blogs?

I have got a wordpress blog which I am trying to make more of an effort to up date daily.
I do create deeplinks into my site though the most recent have just been to the homepage. I have got to get my site working for me as I am desperate to give up childminding in July so this has GOT to pull in an income for me so hopefully working daily on my blog is a step in the right direction ;-)

I was actually referring to the practise of blog commenting, where you leave comments on other peoples blogs using and leaving a link, or using your website in the title.

Normally a relevant comment and a link to my home page. When i get links and non relevant comments on my blog i just dump them in the spam box.

On a daily basis I get emails asking me to moderate comments that have been placed on the blog. The majority of these are simple comments like 'great read thank you', and include a link to a website.
As I don't know if these are real people or spam programmes, I put them all in the junk folder.
Because I put them in the junk folder, I think others must do so as well, so I don't post links on blogs.

If you actually join in the conversation and add a comment isn't spammy then they wont delete it.
I have quite a few backlinks from blogs that i comment on and i also get some traffic from them.

I have 3 blogs attached to retail sites. 1 gets lovely comments and 2 get the most spammy comments i have ever seen! They have obviously used some kind of automated software to post the same comment to lots of blogs like
"This is a out blog and I capture entertainment reading it every morning skin washing one's hands of anecdote's thankfulness you
on sharing it!"
Now its a gift site, and there is no point reading it every morning as it only gets updated about once a month!
If i think that the person has actually read a post and puts a useful comment at the end of it then i let it through, just because i hope people will do the same for me.
When i post a comment on someones blog, i dont put the name of my shops as i think it puts people off, so i just put things like "Fairy Lady" (if im promoting my fairy sites) or Gothic Girl (If im doing my gothic one)
So i still get relevant keywords in the link

Yes thats what i meant. If leaving a comment make it relavant and interesting and its more likely to not get deleted. Also the more interesting it is the more people are likely to read your comment and see your link. No one is going to click on a link if they find the comment boreing.

Just thought I would post here a few of the offerings I had at the weekend. Luckily we have the blog set to all comments being moderated.
Surely if someone is going to the effort of posting bits like this, they would have given it more effort.

John: The time you'd spend getting "low quality" blog links.. you could get much more higher quality links via the Angela / Paul / Terry method.

I have a program that searchs the net for blogs with keywords that I specify, and shows me the PR of the domain and also the PR of the page I would be linking from, so I wouldnt say that they are all low quality.

Now that could be very helpful
Specially if the program can also check for NoFollow attributes.
I was speaking generally ofcourse.. about Blog comment posting "Generally" being considered low quality. But a linkback from a PR5 blog.. now that would hardly be low quality.
