Has anyone got any experience with Adobe CMS? I have been offered a site design suitable for a small - moderate size business selling outdoor gear using Adobe CMS. It has been praised for it's user friendly editing and SEO optimisation but I am wondering if anyone can shed any experience my way. The price tag for the site is £1300 btw.

Any feedbacl much appreciated

£1300??
seems slightly expensive for just a cms (about £1000 over what you should be paying for a cms)

Bloody Hell (scuse french) there are many free to download cms based softwares that have many more options available to you to be able to use yourself wihtout the need to get a developer involved at all beyond initial custom design,

have a look at the following

zencart
prestashop
wordpress (ecommerce options available as pulg ins)
Joomla
and thats just the most common ones !!

the above provide scalable solutions that can and will expand with your business at a much lower cost and far superior usability imho !

Be wary of hosted solutions that do not allow you FULL access to your site files and databases , from experience (others as well as my own) these can cause many issues with developers and hosts holding you to ransom with domain names and sites , and above all make sure the domain you choose is registered in your own name and NOT that of your developer/host/hosted solution provider .......

That last one seems a bit of a simple beware but i think you would be surprised at how many people lose domains due to wrong registrations and difficulty proving ownership (I'm just helping out yet another client who has just discovered that his domain is not registered to himself but his provider)

Research EVERYTHING before you say yes and hand over that amount of cash

You need to explain this a bit better - as far as I am aware Adobe do not do a CMS system - yes it is possible that someone has built a CMS site using Adobe products.
I have searched and found nothing about Adobe CMS

Someone building you a bespoke CMS cart for £1300 is fair enough but to be honest the amount of work that needs to go into something like that would make me question the price. The other major problem is if it is bespoke and not using a current platform security of the coding can be a serious issue and when something goes wrong you will be tied to the developer to fix it.

You need to find out what platform the CMS is built on as I seriously doubt it is a bespoke CMS which in turn makes £1300 for a template a tad expensive IMO but does depend on the amount of work being put in.
