Hi!

I am in the process of looking for suppliers and have found a company in America John F Allen. Could anyone tell me about the costs that are added when goods are bought into the UK?
I am totally green on this and haven't got a clue!! Also are the costs the same from other countries? How do you find this info out??

Thanks in anticipation!!!

In simple terms if you are buying from an EU state then you will Pay VAT but no import duty
If buying from America or any other country outside the EU you will pay both duty and VAT ( as well as a collection fee) the amount of duty depends on the products you are importing

Bear in mind though tha country or origin is important and trying to avoid duty by cloaking the country of origin is an offence

I buy the majority of my stock from America and the import tax etc are quite a lot, but then the beads are VERY cheap so I can still make a profit!

Thats exactly the way to look at it - it all boils down to overall cost

This is a very difficult topic to address, for the simple fact that you can't say like 10% will be added, or 30% so on so forth, because it differs depending on the type of item you are bringing in, the quantity, the cost, the shipping method, which service you use.

Could you provide a little bit more information so I can give you a more accurate estimation of what your costs might be?

Thanks
