Thee are ups and downs on ALL carts especially opensource ones, at least with opensource you can basically try without cost, each and every user will feel comfortable with different carts this is why it is very difficult to recommend. Personally I dont like zencart I find the file structure a freaking nightmare to navigate but Seamus for example who is conversant with ZC will probably disagree.
There are lots of opensource carts and i would encourage users to try out a few before committing, without pushing ourselves too much, from our packages you can install severall shopping carts to try out before you decide.

One thing you h ave to remember is that opensource means the source code is available to everyone - this includes hackers so flaws can be picked up quickly

It's really hard to give you an appropriate answer to such a generic question. The best matching offer really depends a lot on your business needs. When you are trying to start an online business you should be able to focus on this instead of having to focus on technology. I would advise to look for an online available solution or a solution provider who can arrange the shopping cart for you.

there is an appropriate section to advertise, please use it

There is no best, just depends:

If you persue best design, use Shopify.

If you persue more features but still easy to use, I recommend Miiduu

If you persue 100% flexibility, may use opensource magento or opencart

As for the cost, opensource is 0 (but will cost you much time), Miiduu is cheap, shopify is slightly expensive.

Hopefully it helps.

Miiduu and shopify are both hosted solutions not shopping carts and its important to understand the difference.

You will never know if it is a good shopping cart until you try it. So try their recommendations above including one that I will recommend, the Avactis, it is a Php+MySQL shopping cart. It ha full of features that makes it a very powerful yet easy to use shopping cart solution.

My best impartial advice is to look at all of the websites that have been listed and to look at the Demo Shops for each of them, this will give you idea of what you can expect your new shop to look like. Of course if your compiling a list, why not start with Usercart 8 Infinity first. http://www.usercart.com
